To me, raising children vegan does not really seem very different in action, than raising children non-vegan. That’s because eating a vegan diet is essentially just not eating certain things that, currently, most other people still eat. Vegan or not, we all eat food that has calories, protein, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, etc, we are just sometimes eating different things to get that nutrition.
In my 25+ years of being vegan, every doctor I’ve ever been to has been completely supportive of my vegan diet, and none of them have been vegan themselves. When I was pregnant, I got the standard advice that I think the OBGYN gave to all expectant mothers: eat a certain amount of protein, drink a certain amount of water, take prenatal vitamins, don’t rock climb or do crunches, etc. Well, maybe everyone doesn’t get told not to rock climb, but as an avid climber until that point, I had to ask if it was a safe activity. 🙂 And my kids’ doctors have always been supportive of their vegan diets, which they have had their whole lives.
In my view, the main difference between vegans and non-vegans is not in action, but in mindset.
